So, that brings an end to the
proceedings for today. Zouks were clinical in all aspects of the game.
An inauspicuous start to the tournament for the defending champions.
Never mind. It's only the first match. This league is not a sprint, it's
a marathon. The extravaganza continues tomorrow. St Kitts and Nevis
Patriots will take on Guyana Amazon Warriors. Join us back tomorrow.
Cheers!
Charles: "We
had a great start and that's my job in the team. We have finishers but I
would defintely like to bat through the innings and that was out plan.
We have a strong side and we going to take it game by game"
Charles is the Man of the Match
Sammy:
"Beating Trinidad at home is amazing. Credit to the bowlers. To
restrict them to 162 was a brilliant thing. We knew that the conditions
were going to be difficult. We were happy halfway through. Charles is a
seasoned campaginer."
Bravo:
"I think we had a good chance at the half way mark. We backed our
bowlers to defend 163 but the Zouks batsmen played really well. I think
Bravo and Akmal did well to help us reach a challenging total. The games
are starting at 9 and we have to adjust to the conditions."
In
the end, it was a thumping victory for the Zouks. Chasing 163, the
openers gave them a dazzling start. After the fall of Watson, Charles
kept the scorecard ticking and never really allowed the run-rate to dip
at any point during the chase. He essayed a fluent fifty and soon fell
attempting a rash shot. Although, Trinidad pegged wickets towards the
end, Miller and Sammy made sure that the Zouks crossed the finish line
with ease. For Trinidad, Narine and Bravo were among the wickets column.
