So,
time to wrap up things. An emphatic victory for Guyana. Lots of soul
searching to do for the Patriots. The carnival continues tomorrow.
Trinidad will be up against Barbados. Some big names will be in action.
Do join us back then. For now, it's a goodbye from us. Cheers!
Smith:
"I told the guys we needed to get off to a good start. I don't get
frustrated. I believe that we can win from any position. We just need to
continue with the good form. It was a very good pitch as I said before
it's about getting to a good start. I just try to be positive (talking
about his success in the T20 format)."
Smith is the Man of the Match for his blistering 62
Guptill:
"Nice to get an early win. We were tested towards the end but the guys
showed a lot of character to pull it off. I think he was impressive.
It's a good wicket and the ball comes on well to the bat. Myself and
Smith put a good first wicket partnership. We've got three spinners and I
tried to rotate them. Shamsi bowled well for the Patriots. I always
love playing here. It's a great atmosphere."
Faf:
"It's a crazy game. We played well. We got a really good batting
line-up but none of them turned up today. I think we did well to get to
164. There was a twist again. We should have won towards the end. I
think we pulled back things nicely. I should've taken that last catch.
We started poorly with ball and we were average with the bat. There are
lots of signs for improvement. As a captain, it's a great challenge and
learning curve for me."
A
thrilling victory for Guyana. Chasing 165, Smith and Guptill gave them a
rousing start and added 50 plus for the opening wicket. Smith cracked a
fluent fifty. Just when Guyana were coasting towards the target, they
lost a heap of wickets in the middle overs and found themselves in some
sort of trouble. However, when things got tight towards the end,
Mohammed held his nerve and helped Guyana romp home.
